Recreational Pools are for playing games and generally having fun. They can be designed with the family in mind if you have children. Always take there age in to consideration. If you have very young kids then it is a good idea to build a separate but connected paddling pool for them to splash around in, this is the ideal way to get them used to the water.
You also need to think about the depth of the pool; if you want to play ball games for example, you will need to stand up with your head above the water at both ends of the pool, you could therefore have the deepest part in the centre of the swimming pool.
